Latest Event: Use of Biometrics in Mobile Communication

Security applications which use the person's biological assets have been in use for quite some time now. Finger print scanners can even be seen in home cased PCs, iris scanner and other types of biometric devices have also become popular lately. But due to some reason Biometric security till date has remained aloof from mobile communication systems. The need of miniaturization is the biggest challenge that has been in front of the engineers when it comes to taking the technology to mobile devices, PDAs and other hand-held machines.
Until now the biometrics has been used to tie a device to a person so that it does not fall in the hands of scrupulous persons. It eliminates the illegal use of the devices. But the latest IST project named SECUREPHONE has taken biometrics with a whole new approach. It lets the person digitally sign audio, text and even image files as a proof of their originality and authenticity.
The biometric data is basically stored in the SIM card ad can only be accessed by a verification module which also runs on the SIM card. This ensures that the user biometric profile is completely tamper proof. Thus this is one of a kind biometric application which processes and stores the data on the SIM card.
The existing communication might be very secure but there is no way to prove the authenticity or identification of the person on the other side of the phone. As we know mobiles due to the ubiquity are seen to be the future means of monetary transactions like eCommerce, even means to sign deals and give presentation but unless there is any full proof method to prove the identity of the person, all this would be a distant dream. The securephone technology provides a way in which even the audio or the text sent through mobiles will have a legal value. The aim is to find a means of conversation that cannot be disputed afterward for example a biometrically encoded voice coding would be a clear proof of the person speaking.
The securephone project thus consists of two different modules:
• The first module is basically the biometric verification module which verifies that only the legitimate person is using the particular service. It is a type of biometric security application which confirms the identity of the user.
• The second module succeeds the first one by digitally signing the data by use of a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
Thus rather than relying on something you possess like a pin code that you can easily lose the biometric encryption relies on what you actually are!

PDF EBook Security Software - The Functionality You Should Look for

ByAchilles Marshall
EBook authors and publishers have for long suffered the effects of the piracy of their intellectual property; so it is about time that effective software is developed to stop or discourage pirates from sustaining this trend. Some of the functions that authors desire in PDF security software for their eBooks include the capability to share them securely, control their use, and a platform that lets them see when and the frequency with which their eBooks are viewed and printed. They also desire a PDF eBook security software suite that can stop document copying, sharing, modifying, saving, inhibit screen grabbing and print screen, stop printing to file, image printer or PDF format, and block access to documents.
Power is nothing without control, or so the wise men said, and in PDF eBook protection it is desirable to not only have the capability to stop, but to control the various functions that are relevant to documents. The right PDF security software is therefore one that lets the publisher decide if in the first place his/her document can be viewed, and if so the number of views allowed, when it can no longer be viewed (expire), and if it should be viewed only online or if offline viewing is also possible. It should also enable the document owner to decide whether his/her creative can be viewed in thin and/or virtual environments. These controls are essential for authors who make their eBooks available on subscription basis.
Nowadays, eBooks are widely used for online training courses and as such lecturers may need to make copies of such documents for use where computers are not available. In such situations the ability to just allow or stop printing is not entirely adequate as we may need to control the number of prints that can be made. The application of PDF security software featuring a watermarking capability (of which the user's and system identity information is dynamically displayed on the printouts) can serve as an effective deterrent to making unauthorized copies of the protected document.
An appropriate PDF security software suite is one that can communicate with a licensing server to confirm whether the user is licensed to access and/or use your creative. This, as part of DRM controls, means that your document is protected regardless of where it resides. Going back to the subscription issue mentioned earlier on, it is useful if the eBook PDF protection application can be integrated into your existing ecommerce system so as to facilitate safe and instant delivery of licenses to authorized users. Last but not least, the eBook protection software licensing system should not be password-based as passwords can be forgotten, revealed to unauthorized parties, or even be exposed using password-cracking tools.

Windows Perfmon To Determine Performance For iSCSI

ByEddison Sherry
The performance monitor is a utility used to track a range of processes and give a real time graphical display of the results Windows 2003 system. This tool can be used to assist you with the planning of upgrades, tracking of processes that need to be optimized, monitoring results of tuning and configuration scenarios, and the understanding of a workload and its effect on resource usage to identify bottlenecks.
Using is not quite the same when monitoring physical disks that are directly accessed by the system. As you know, your network configuration and equipment will have the greatest impact on iSCSI performance. Having a high performance switch that does network buffering and flow control, having good cables between the Target and Initiators, and having quality NIC cards is critical to achieving optimal performance. The iSCSI software is capable of achieving fast rates very near the theoretical limit of 120 MB/second. But so much of the performance depends on the environment in which iSCSI is running.
You should not be making any kind of iSCSI performance analysis based solely on the Physical Disk counters in Windows Perfmon or follow general performance rules that many have posted on the web that relate to physical disk I/O because they do not apply to iSCSI. There is no physical correlation between the SAN physical disk queue and the Windows Perfmon physical disk counters once iSCSI is involved as all disk commands are now encapsulated in network packets. You can generally divide the Perfmon physical disk counters by the number of disk spindles on the SAN to arrive at a ballpark number for the Perfmon physical disk counters but it is not an exact science.
A better approach for performance analysis with Windows Perfmon is to add in the Microsoft iSCSI initiator classes focusing on them and the Perfmon network counters such as latency. You may also include the logical disk counters but the same caveat should apply to them as the physical disk counters; they are not the sole measure of iSCSI SAN performance.
PhysicalDiskAvg. Disk Queue Length counter indicates the average number of both read and writes requests that were queued for the selected disk during the sample interval. PhysicalDiskAvg. Disk Read Queue Length counter indicates the average number of read requests that were queued for the selected disk during the sample interval. PhysicalDiskAvg. Disk Write Queue Length counter indicates the average number of write requests that were queued for the selected disk during the sample interval.

LED Lights: Making the Environment Safer

ByJack Peak
Light emitting diodes are the diodes that let electricity pass through them in only one direction. These diodes emit light when electricity is applied. It works just like light bulbs but it is many times more beneficial than the traditional incandescent and fluorescent lights. LED is commonly used term that is used instead of the long name "light emitting diodes". These LEDs are found in almost all the electric products of recent age. They have a large number of advantages that is why they are liked and preferred by all.
Basically LEDs are just like tiny little bulbs that can easily fit in any circuit. But they are different from the old common bulbs in a number of ways. They do not have filaments in them like incandescent bulbs that burn out when electricity passes through them. They are not mercury based. They do not get hot at once. They have long lifespan as compare to the normal lights. They are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Here in this article we will mainly discuss the effects of LED lights on our environment.
LED lights are the wonderful invention in the world of technology that has changed the way the world is lit. Modern research shows that even changing one single bulb to an LED home light would make a significant impact on environment. If you start using one LED light instead of a traditional light, you would be able to keep one half of the ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere along with sulfur dioxide and nuclear wastes. In this way you will help the mankind by giving them a cleaner and safer atmosphere to live in.
These LED lights do not produce heat as all traditional lights produce. They do not have mercury in them so they are not potentially dangerous for the people as well as for the environment. The next point that shows that these LED lights have environmental concern is this that these lamps are non-toxic. They can be easily recycled without causing any environmental pollution.
It is the environment friendly feature of these LED lights that have turned the whole American nation towards the use of such types of lights. Their homes, offices, lawns, shopping malls, hospitals, schools and universities all are equipped with these lights. It is the beauty of these lights that they serve well for all the purposes. Common used home lights, street lights, flood lights, spot lights, backyard lights, pathway lights, there is a long list of different types of LED lights. They are easily available and their energy efficiency is their additional feature that forces common people to use these lights.

Light Emitting Diodes

ByJack Peak
LEDs certainly are everywhere; wherever you look around you, you find LED in one form or another - working in your home, working on your calculator, in your digital watches, in your garden, in your TV screen, in your laptop, in your cars - just everywhere. Earlier on, it was used to indicate, not to eliminate. But now the purpose of usage has been changed. With the advancement of technology, LED has covered almost all the different residential applications of light in our life.
Red light was perhaps the first LED light that we saw somewhere in 1962. It is then followed by yellow and green light. In this way, the whole traffic signal light came into existence. Much later, in early 90s, the broad spectrum of LED blue lights was developed. It was the beginning of the huge advancement in the field of LED. Since then, it is becoming more and more popular because of its number of advantages. In 1993, a company named Nichia combined this blue light with red and green light to make white light. It was the revolution in the field of LED technology. This first white LED light (blue LED with sulfur coating) provided enough material to create white colored light but it was very expansive at that time.
In recent days, researchers are doing research for the coming revolution of solid-state lighting. They say that they are working on different projects to control different aspects of lighting for a room. They are trying to create many wavelengths in a room and to blend them to produce special effects like the exact representation of sunlight or moonlight in the room. They are doing these efforts to provide us more comfortable and pleasant atmosphere.
LED lights hold many advantages when compare to the traditional lighting. The most important and well-considered advantage is its low power consumption. Reports said that the use of LED () saves one-third of the energy. It shows that if we use one LED light, it will help us in 10% reduction in electricity consumption along with the reduction of carbon emission. This helps in making our environment clean and safe to live in. LEDs also reduce the sulfur and nuclear elements from the atmosphere to keep us healthy. These lights are without mercury so they are easy to recycle. They are long life and durable. They are cost effective too. They are found in many shapes, colors and styles. They are manufactured for different purposes. They are easily available.

Sell Your Smartphone If You Don't Need It!

ByAdam Fuller
A lot of times, we buy things that we don't really need. This is true, especially in the case of consumer electronics. Plenty of things like laptops, computers, tablets, and smartphones are always bought for the simple fact that they are new. Other times, people just buy them to be "in" and be cool. They want to brag that they have the latest mp3 players with the biggest memories, or the latest phones with the coolest looking games.
Some consumer electronics are actually quite helpful for our daily lives like a desktop computer. And there are some things that just make you go, "Why did I even buy that?" This usually happens with smartphones. Why even buy the latest smartphone when you have a powerful computer, your own secretary, and still use Post-It notes?
When you think about it, do you really need 500,000 apps to remind you of your mother's birthday? You may think the smartphone is the craze right now, but actually it isn't.
In fact, only one-third of residents in the United States own a smartphone. What about the rest? They seem to be fine without it anyway. They don't need push email or the latest operating systems from Apple and Windows. But how about you? Do you really need it?
Here are some reasons to convince you to sell your smartphone:
1. They're all the same
- You could get the latest iPhone or Motorola Atrix models, but the earlier generations still perform the same functions. If you happen to own one, you're still going to do the same thing if you buy a new one.
2. You're not maximizing its capabilities
- Why bother giving your mother a BlackBerry when she's just a humble housewife? While the thought of giving her the latest smartphones is wonderful, it's just going to be a waste. If you just like to take pictures and send text messages, then go buy a regular mobile phone.
- Likewise, if you're always in front of the computer, you really don't get to use the smartphone's internet capabilities. Especially if you live near where you work (which likely has Internet access), having a smartphone is an impractical idea.
3. It still can't be a computer
- No matter what, an iPhone is still going to be a plain phone. If you're a gaming addict, you can't play the latest Call of Duty to hit the shelves. You're still going to be logging into your email account on the computer, and you're going to be online the whole day.
4. You barely bring it anywhere
- If you're a rich person that loves to travel, then having a smartphone is certainly handy. But if you're like the rest of the population, then a smartphone isn't really needed. If you bring a tablet computer or laptop with you everywhere you go (many people that have tablets also have smartphones), then you won't really use the Internet capabilities of the smartphone. The tablet is a better alternative for surfing.
Also, smartphones can be actually detrimental to your body's health. Owning a smartphone is a serious addiction. CNN reports that people normally check their smartphones at least 34 times a day, not because they really need to. They just check it out of habit. The brain simply commands the hands to reach out to the phone involuntarily.
This is a serious problem, as CNN also reports that it is very distracting. They report that it is hard to go back to work because important tasks are suddenly forgotten. Checking emails suddenly became involuntary.
If you tend to check your email using your smartphone too many times a day, then you need to think about it. Also, if you tend to zone out with your friends just because you need to check up on something, you have a problem.
If you're having these problems, just sell your smartphone and downgrade. But if you can't really live without it, just go buy a cheaper smartphone with basic smartphone features. You could try the BlackBerry Curve 8520. It's one of the cheapest smartphones, but it still has the basic smartphone features.

Why a Bin Indicator Is an Important Requirement in Industries

ByShiri Kenan
A bin indicator is used in many different industries. The industries range from grain storage, pulp and paper industry, petrochemicals to plastic manufacturing units, chemical processing centres, etc. The main function of this indicator is to calculate the level of the materials in the bins or the silos. You can use the bin level indicator to find out if the bin is empty or full, so that accordingly the bin can be filled or stopped from being filled over. Also you can monitor the bins continuously and the readings which are taken at regular intervals can then be used for inventory management. This is how bin indicators can be useful in these industries.
There are many other advantages of using a bin indicator:
1. The bins used for storing materials are huge and heavy. Without bin indicators, the industry staff would have to climb up the bin to check the level of the material in it. This could be quite dangerous. Bin indicators have thus enhanced safety in these industries.
2. You can monitor a number of bins at the same time. Thus a lot of time is saved in order to carry out this process. Also very little staff is required to manage the entire operation.
3. The bin indicators are very easy to install. With assistance from the manufacturers, these indicators can be easily installed and operated in your industry. They also require very little maintenance. Thus it saves a lot of cost as well.
4. With the help of a bin level indicator you get an accurate estimate of the material in the bin. It will give you an accurate indication of just-in-time replenishment. Because of these precise and timely indications, shut down of operations in the industry is reduced.
5. Due to the height of the bins, it is not possible to manually check the levels that the materials have obtained inside. Sometimes it causes overflow of the material. Because of the indicators, this problem is taken care of, as they give exact indication of the levels in the bins. Similarly they can also indicate if the bin has not been filled upto its capacity. Thus storage optimization can be achieved.
6. It saves on a lot of expenses. Less labour is required, less time is spent and the system itself requires very little maintenance.
Thus a bin level indicator can be used in such a manner that it makes the job of level indication easier and much faster.

Cloud Computing - Surely It's Just Pie in the Sky

Is cloud computing just another one of those fads or crazes designed to make us spend all our money on something just until the next craze comes around?
I sit behind my 6 year old laptop which is totally inferior to the mobile phone I use these days, typing into a word processing software application that consists of so many elements, I am unlikely to use them in not only a month of Sundays but probably a century of Sundays. It is a package I have paid for (honest) and comprises of seven software applications of which I will probably only use three and none of them to anything like their full potential. However I am lucky because I am one man band who has paid once for his license and get updates downloaded free; I will probably be able to use the package for years as any major upgrades or new applications will probably include a handy set of converters that will make my work forever readable (I am not sure that is such a good thing, from your point of view not mine).
The impact on small to medium business
Now if I was a small to medium size business of say 100 employees and the company needed some kind of computer for 90 of those employees, they may only use one or two applications for a fraction of the time they are actually working; that is an awful lot of unused technology being left unused.
To break this down there would be a license fee payable for each and every one of the ninety software packages, the cost of upgrading the packages when necessary, the wages for the staff you would need to employ to install, fix problems and update each and every package on each and every computer. All of a sudden you are spending an awful lot of your budget on maintaining your computers, the use of those computers may be necessary to keep your business successful but there is also an awful lot of wasted money.
What's in a cloud
In comparison consider the concept of cloud computing; your business would draw up a contract with a service provider who would supply you with all the necessary IT services you need to run your business such as;
• Applications
• Software
• Communications
• Productivity
• Web and email security
• Storage
• Servers
• Tailor made applications
All of this is the responsibility of the service provider and kept remotely away from your business.
What savings?
When it comes to individuals on your staff using computers if 75 of them only use a word processing package then that is all you pay for, if 10 of them use a spreadsheet package once a month that is all you pay for. I think you can see where I am going; no smoke in your eyes.
Add to this the cost savings made by not having to employ a specialist IT department, not having to pay for expensive servers or storage facilities and not having to pay for upgrading and updating software and applications; it all adds up especially if you tie in the increased productivity.
I believe that Cloud Computing is the way forward for all computer based small and medium businesses; an added benefit is when you look into that lovely clear blue sky you do not see a cloud.

Organizing Your Work Well in Folders and Files for Maximum Efficiency

The importance of data cannot be overemphasized. We need to have the right data at the right time, at the right place to make informed decisions. We therefore need to manage the data and information that we have well and in a structured way, hence arrange files and folders in the most efficient and effective way.
The more we continue using computers, the more data is generated. Some questions like what to archive will arise. Archiving is storing data in a secondary location for future reference. The archived data should be accessible when needed. The decision to know what to have readily in our computers and what to archive should be made by you. You may however need to consult an expert in the area of the data you are handling to make that decision.
When you are handling files, it is good to organize them as you work with them. This may be when creating, updating, editing or duplicating the files. Create time to finish organizing them, otherwise you may spend more time figuring out where each of the file should be. You will also not have to browse through the information again, you may do this haphazardly and end up with the wrong file. It will also make you more organized in your time management and in keeping your house in order.
Do not create duplicate files with the same or very similar content. Unless it is a back up, this will make you have unnecessary files that you may not need. You will have control of the files by not necessarily depending on synchronization of files, especially while you are not updating your work remotely. Otherwise you may require to use synchronization features and cloud sharing tools to work on the same files at the same location. We will cover this extensively in another article.
Name your files and folders according to their content. Give them a relevant name that depicts what they are about. Implement a tree structure. You could have a folder name for a company, then subfolders for different sections. You can also create subfolders for each section. Each of the directories may contain files, according to the classification and content. This includes even the parent directory.
Remember to create a back up for all your work, because data is quite expensive. There are different media for storing backup. You may have a USB drive, external hard disk, or even remote backup. Remember to update your back up regularly, otherwise it won't be effective and up to date Take care of your data too. Prevent any unauthorized access to your information. This involves physical security, passwords access and general care while handling files. Data security is important, maintain integrity to ensure that only the right people get access to it.

Load Faster

ByKevin Thereon
Many people will only use computer technical support and computer repair in instances where their computers have actually broken. In other words they press the on button and nothing happens and they then decide that it's time to call computer repair services. This is a very good idea and of course in this scenario computer repair services are the best for the job. However at the same time this is far from the only application of computer repair services and there are many other situations in which computer repair services can be useful.
One such scenario is when your computer doesn't run as fast as it could - and particularly when it loads up very slowly. This is highly frustrating and it can be very boring while at the same time if you are using the computer at work then you will often find that this drastically damages your productivity and leaves you getting very little down. Meanwhile this is often a sign of something more severe and you will find that computer repair services are necessary before the computer gets so slow it never comes on...
As such you need to find ways to speed your computer up and the loading speed in particular and to do this you can use computer repair. They will be able to do a PC performance check and find out how well your PC is performing in general. A PC performance check can highlight problems you didn't even realize were there - perhaps for instance you forgot that your computer used to load up in a heartbeat. At the same time a PC performance check can help to ascertain the nature of the problem and what needs to be done in order to fix it.
Getting a PC performance check then should be like getting an MOT. You should do it from time to time in order to make sure that your computer is at full capacity and that way you can prevent it from ever completely packing in and costing you a lot more to repair and a lot more time to get around.
Here's one thing you can do yourself in the meantime though to get your PC to run faster. First of all, go to 'Run' by clicking the Windows button. Now type in 'MSConfig'. This will open you up a control panel with tabs and among those tabs will be 'Start Up'. Click this tag and you will then be presented with a list of program names. These are the programs that load up when you load up your computer and the ones checked means that you want them to start up every time. Un-check those ones and the computer will load twice as quickly because it will have less to load each time. At the same time it will prevent the programs from running unbeknownst to you in the background when you do other things so it will be generally faster at all times. Just be careful when choosing which programs to un-check as sometimes you can end up getting rid of crucial software that needs to run for your PC to perform.
Using computer repair from time to time and getting a PC performance check is a good way to keep your computer running at full speed and to prevent problems before they arise.

Computer Experts Of All Types

ByKevin Germain
When I began working last year in a small hometown computer store I never thought I would become as interested in web design and computer repair as I find myself today. It is truly amazing what can be done using the right codes, in the right order the functions and designs that become art. It still also amazes me that a computer technician is more like a doctor than anyone will ever know. The artists and doctors within the computer world are an amazing breed and the role in society that they play is one that keeps us all advancing.
Everyday business owners big and small are in need of computer services be it website design, search engine optimization or computer repair. Website design is the first basic element in starting a business. A website with intense search engine optimization can grow your business as fast as any store front out there. Your website is the window display of your business online. It is important to ensure that the design is one that fits the persona you want for your business.
Here are a few things to think about when explaining your desires for website design:
1) No matter what you think background music is nothing but a distraction. Avoid adding music to a site unless of course you sell CD's and are giving samplings of such things as featured artists.
2) Font size needs to be kept reasonable. Large font makes people assume you are shouting and no one enjoys being shouted at. The same thing is true with small font size. People assume you are whispering and it makes your message seem unimportant and little.
3) Too many layers. Your message should be important enough not to have it pushing through to show importance. When using layers it is important that they serve a purpose other than throwing useless annoying message in the faces of visitors.
4) When going in for your consultation it is important to let your web designer know colors that are appealing to you and to prepare a list of sites that have layout that you enjoy. It is also important to share sites that you don't like. Sharing this will give your designer an idea about the styles that will please you.
Another important aspect of business is to have functioning equipment. When something is on the fritz it is important to know that you have a trusted computer repair company to support their operations. Computer repair comes in all shapes and sizes. Computer issues arise from keyboard failure to server malfunctions all of which become of the utmost importance. The timing is critical in computer repair. The job of computer technicians is to ensure that the business is unaffected no matter what day or time an issue should arise.
The same is true in general computer repair. Technology does not wait for a good time to have a hard drive failure or virus. Computer technicians will be able to examine issues and follow a route of repair in order to ensure the computer is up and running in a timely fashion. Whatever issues that arises within your computer it is important that a certified technician care for your computer. Everyone has somebody who "knows" everything there is too know about computers in their lives. However, I will tell you those are the people I have the pleasure to check in everyday. Trust me it is cheaper to have your computer repairs done the right way the first time. Come and see us for your next computer repair.

How To Pick And Choose The Best Free Apps For Your iPhone

A Few Basic Guidelines

iPhones apps can greatly enhance the features and capabilities of your already feature-rich mobile device. The fact that most of the best apps for the iPhone are available for free makes it even more compelling to download and use them. But before you rush off to download the latest available app, you might need to find out , so that you can derive maximum benefit from them.

You can follow this list of criteria to help you pick and choose the best free apps for your iPhone:

Requirement

Most people are attracted to iPhone apps based on the wow factor. They hear about a new app or see a friend using one, and they immediately get all excited about it, without ever wondering whether they really need the app. Just because it is free does not mean that you should immediately download and use it. In fact, most people never use a large percentage of the apps that are installed on their iPhones. Understand that you would only use an app which really meets a particular need. So use that as your basic selection criterion to see whether or not you really need a particular app, before you download and use it.

Usability

Judge an app based on its usability. Unlike computer software applications, most apps are used on the go while driving, walking or even running. See how well you can use the app in those circumstances. Sometimes, you might have to wait for the app to evolve to a higher version before it becomes really usable. So unless the app is easy to use on the iPhone, do not go for it.

Value

Unless you have countless hours of free time, you can do without a large percentage of apps. In fact, most apps for entertainment can be very addictive and rob you off your precious time, which you can use productively in other tasks. So judge an app by the value it provides in your life. If it can aid you in productivity and save time, go for it. But if it wastes your time and decreases your income or profits, keep away from it.

Practical Applications of Biometric Security

The holiday season are upon us and many people will be traveling and busy packing their luggage in preparation to face the gauntlet of tight airport or other transportation security measures which are necessary in a post 911 era.
Most people come prepared to face long lines, body scanners and sometimes seemingly intrusive body searches. Your luggage gets inspected as a matter of due procedure.
Just as we accept these security measures taken by the security apparatus, there are also practical and proactive ways to protect important travel documents or personal belongings while traveling during the holiday season.
Biometrics is a growing technology whereby property, data or personal effects can be protected using a person's unique biological identity.
Biometrics: The process by which a person's unique physical and other biological attributes are detected and recorded by an electronic device or system as a means of confirming ones identity with great accuracy.
Most common biological attributes used are fingerprints and iris scanning methods. Every person has a unique set of fingerprints and iris attributes which can be used to either identify a person or used in the application of biometric security devices.
Fingerprint security also has practical applications which can be used to help protect security or privacy concerns on a personal level.
For example, fingerprint scanners and locking systems are designed to prevent unauthorized access to your personal data or information. In today's high-tech society USB devices are becoming more and more common place and prevalent. People often travel and carry small flash disk which can contain volumes of personal, private or confidential information. Imagine you are at a busy airport working on your laptop with your flash disk attached tying to finish a report. Then after boarding the plane you realize you lost your flash disk. If the disk was lost or fell into wrong hands your identity could be compromised and used to engage in identity thief. Having a biometric secure flash disk can prevent unauthorized access to the data and thereby protecting your personal data.
Fingerprint technology can also be used to secure your personal laptop or PC thereby preventing unauthorized access to your computer system without your unique fingerprint. Passwords are great, but using biometric fingerprint technology alleviates the necessity to remember all those passwords. By using your unique fingerprint you can easily access stored computer data.
Another application would include bio metric fingerprint locks can be placed on luggage or bags thereby protecting the rightful owner's contents from potential thief. Many horror stories have been told of people busy, distracted, and traveling in a cab and then realizing they left their briefcase in the cab contacting very important personal private or confidential documents. Attaching a simple biometric fingerprint locking system on a briefcase or luggage can help prevent anyone from just arbitrarily going through your personal effects or documents.
Though the term biometric technology may sound complicated and intimidating, in principal, applications of the technology are simple and very practical. One need not understand all the technical jargon to understand how to apply their fingerprint to a device to gain access.
Protecting data or personal information is often left up to the individual. This would preclude governments or corporate organizations which are mandated or required to protect your personal information like credit cards, insurance or other information held in huge computer data banks.
Without involving too much complication one can protect their laptop, USB flash disk and even their luggage by means of biometric technology. One does not need to understand the laws of electricity or how electrons interact to form an electric current to know how to flip a switch to turn on lights in their home. The same basic ideal applies to using biometrics to protect your data or personal effects.
Admittedly, there are some aspects of biometric applications which are quite complicated to understand and to employ. However, above applications of biometric technology discussed are practical and convenient.

Some Useful Modern Technology For Your Office Space

ByJohn J King
It is extremely difficult to keep up to date with all of the impressive technological innovation being offered nowadays for organisations to run in their offices. Let's face it, it isn't all helpful to all businesses but there are of course some great and sometimes overlooked nuggets out there.
The combination of a smart, nicely located office space that embraces some of the relevant technological advances may have important benefits for both the everyday running of a business, as well as how a company is perceived by its clients. For instance, its fair to say that a company that frequently presents ideas to visiting clients would be better perceived with a specialist audio visual system, as opposed to the kind most of us have seen before which have a habit of faltering mid presentation, requiring an IT specialist to run in and get the thing up and running again. That's only one example of how advancing technology can impact your company. Below are a few more examples:
Another common example is that of video conferencing. With the advent of Skype along with other systems on the mass market many of us are a lot more mindful of this sort of communication than we used to be. The thing is that for those market sectors that constantly need to hook up from nation to nation through video, maybe for crucial meetings, a dedicated, professional system is required. There are lots of companies offering these types of systems and they can have a dramatic impact on the professionalism of a company, particularly if you often communicate with important clients through video and audio.
IPTV is yet another modern technology which is all around us, usually without us knowing it. This technology is employed in lots of ways, one example is for sending video information over a high speed broadband internet connection, IPTV is the technology that drives the BBC's iPlayer. IPTV is also used for digital signage which we come across at airport terminals, railway stations, home improvement stores and inside of large office buildings. IPTV has a huge role to play within the offices of many organisations with regards to the networking of an array of digital information. An increasing number of companies are realising its potential and adopting it.
So to summarise, not all businesses will want to consider each new bit of technological innovation that presents itself on the market but there are many important ways that certain instances of the new digital explosion can really make an enterprise function better, and essentially, impress their clients.
